Toenail fungus is our biggest fear, so it’s very important to deal with it.
Nail fungus is nothing to be ashamed of, it’s not necessarily unkempt and dirty people who get nail fungus!
It rains a lot in Ireland, it’s very difficult to keep shoes dry and that’s one of the most important things.
If you work all day in closed shoes, you have to be very careful to keep your feet dry and your nails short. Long toenails can be pressed down by the shoe, skin-epidermis adhesion is damaged, air can get under the nail and there is a much greater risk of infection.
If there is already air under the nail, I recommend dripping a mixture of tea tree oil, lavender oil diluted with base oil under the nail plate 1-2 times a week to prevent nail fungus.
Bad news, I don’t recommend gel polish for toenails except occasionally, for weddings and holidays.
I took this picture of a new client’s feet after removing the gel polish. Very important, if you have gel polish on your feet, it should be removed after 4-5 weeks.
It is forbidden use gelpolish for fungal infected toenails!
Once this has happened, the infected part must be removed. Removing the fungal parts that are visible to the eye is a painless aesthetic treatment and can be treated effectively at home with antifungal drops bought from a pharmacy. There are several types of antifungal drops, as there are several types of fungal infections, so you may not find the right one straight away, you will have to wait.
It’s worth showing it to your doctor, he may take a sample and send it for testing to see what type of fungal infection it is and if he thinks so, he may prescribe some medicine. Before you go to the doctor don’t treat your toenails with anything as the results will not be realistic. It can heal very nicely if the circulation in your feet is good and you are not diabetic.
Also important! Use a separate towel for your feet, disinfect your bath and shower afterwards, and change your socks several times a day to keep your feet dry. You can also use a shoe disinfectant spray.
If you bring your shoes, I’ll disinfect them with a shoe disinfector.
